Linden Park

Linden Park is a 2-acre linear park located in the City of Redwood City, along the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission's (SFPUC) Hetch-Hetchy Right of Way. The SFPUC development guidelines limited the type of improvements allowed in the park; traditional structures or features requiring a pier footing were not permitted. Therefore, the design took on a nature theme, with an emphasis on the butterfly life cycle. The program includes a natural play area, rustic walking trails, butterfly gardens, whimsical sculptures, and seating areas. The park has several unique identifying features including two 8ft tall willow cocoons and curvilinear natural wood seat walls. The design process included several community workshops that were held on site during evenings and weekends.
