APWA Public Works Project of the Year 2022-Chanticleer Park

We're excited to announce that Chanticleer Park  in Santa Cruz County has been awarded the APWA Monterey Bay Chapter 2022 Public Works Project of the Year Award in Historical Restoration/Preservation under $5 million.

This award was established to promote excellence in public works projects by recognizing the partnership between the managing agency, the consultant team, and the contractor, who all work together successfully to complete these outstanding projects.

Chanticleer Park is a 5 acre neighborhood park, located on an historic site, which has a legacy of the area’s agricultural history. SSA led a design team, including Historic Architect, Civil Engineer, Geotechnical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, and Arborist in the design process, while working closely with the County and local Santa Cruz community. The park program includes historic structures, restrooms, picnic shelters, themed All-Inclusive play areas, parking, informal grass areas, off-leash dog areas, community gardens, skate and BMX bike features, tennis and bocce ball courts.

SSA collaborated with Shane’s Inspiration on the design of the All-Inclusive playground.

The park opened in February 2020 to an eager community. It has become a destination point for young and old. The all-inclusive playground, as well as other activities, have created an exciting park for all ages and abilities.
